Characterization of a Class of Sigmoid Functions with Applications to Neural Networks

چکیده
We study two classes of sigmoids: the simple sigmoids, defined to be odd, asymptotically bounded, completely monotone functions in one variable, and the hyperbolic sigmoids, a proper subset of simple sigmoids and a natural generalization of the hyperbolic tangent. We obtain a complete characterization for the inverses of hyperbolic sigmoids using Euler's incomplete beta functions, and describe composition rules that illustrate how such functions may be synthesized from others. These results are applied to two problems. First we show that with respect to simple sigmoids the continuous Cohen-Grossberg-Hopfield model can be reduced to the (associated) Legendre differential equations. Second, we show that the effect of using simple sigmoids as node transfer functions in a one-hidden layer feedforward network with one summing output may be interpreted as representing the output function as a Fourier series sine transform evaluated at the hidden layer node inputs, thus extending and complementing earlier results in this area. Coefficient bounds for a new class of univalent functions involving Salagean operator and the modified Sigmoid function
We define a new subclass of univalent function based on Salagean differential operator and obtained the initial Taylor coefficients using the techniques of Briot-Bouquet differential subordination in association with the modified sigmoid function. Further we obtain the classical Fekete-Szego inequality results.
متن کاملGeoid Determination Based on Log Sigmoid Function of Artificial Neural Networks: (A case Study: Iran)
A Back Propagation Artificial Neural Network (BPANN) is a well-known learning algorithmpredicated on a gradient descent method that minimizes the square error involving the networkoutput and the goal of output values. In this study, 261 GPS/Leveling and 8869 gravity intensityvalues of Iran were selected, then the geoid with three methods “ellipsoidal stokes integral”,“BPANN”, and “collocation” ...
متن کاملInvestigation of Mechanical Properties of Self Compacting Polymeric Concrete with Backpropagation Network
Acrylic polymer that is highly stable against chemicals and is a good choice when concrete is subject to chemical attack. In this study, self-compacting concrete (SCC) made using acrylic polymer, nanosilica and microsilica has been investigated. The results of experimental testing showed that the addition of microsilica and acrylic polymer decreased the tensile, compressive and bending strength...

Introduction: Acute appendicitis is one of the most common causes of emergency surgery especially in children. Proper and on-time diagnosis may decrease the unwanted complications. In despite of diagnostic methods, a significant number of patients yet and up with negative laparotomies. The aim of this study was to assess the role of artificial neural networks in diagnosis of acute appendicitis ...
متن کاملPredicting the Coefficients of Antoine Equation Using the Artificial Neural Network (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Neural network is one of the new soft computing methods commonly used for prediction of the thermodynamic properties of pure fluids and mixtures. In this study, we have used this soft computing method to predict the coefficients of the Antoine vapor pressure equation. Three transfer functions of tan-sigmoid (tansig), log-sigmoid (logsig), and linear were used to evaluate the performance of diff...
